According to Bloomberg, Istanbul International Airport (IST) topped the rating as the busiest airport in 2020, thereby attracting approximately 23.4 million travelers, Tengritravel.kz writes. The second place was taken by the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport. The top five also included Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and Moscow Sheremetyevo.
Reportedly, European airports for the most part had experienced a serious drop in traffic, and Istanbul successfully managed to avoid the crisis. Previously, Shanghai city was the least affected by the COVID-19 in terms of reducing flights. These figures were published by the rating of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
“There are no winners, there are only those players who have suffered fewer injuries. In a short period of time, a centennial progress in bringing people and markets together has been destroyed,” said Sebastian Mikos, the representative of the Association.
