Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and JetBlue have been offering an infection-free electronic passes. The opportunity will be available from December, according to the Financial Times.
The electronic pass system was developed by the non-profit organization The Commons Project. Upon passing the screening, the person uploads the result to the mobile application and receives a QR code, which is scanned upon landing.
“Accuracy testing, combined with e-passes, is an alternative way to regain consumer confidence and safely restore the air traffic. So far, passengers have the choice to use the new boarding system or not. But over time, the digital pass will be mandatory and through which a passenger might be able to confirm their vaccination,” Joanna Geraty says, JetBlue President.
