From December 23, the Japanese airline JAL is introducing a free insurance policy for passengers on international flights with coverage of coronavirus treatment, isolation and repatriation, according to Interfax-Tourism.

The JAL Covid-19 policy will be provided by Allianz Travel insurance company, including the reimbursement of up to € 150,000 for travel testing costs and coronavirus treatment in case of a positive test result. The policy will be valid for 31 days from the date of departure of the first international JAL flight or until returning to the country of residence. The service will be offered until June 30, 2021.

“The international air traffic is gradually restored, and the JAL Group has adopted a number of key COVID-19 measures to provide customers with safe travel. Before the restoration of the global air traffic, we hope that Allianz Travel's JAL-Covid 19 Cover policy will provide tranquility to those who need to travel now, ”said Hideo Ninomiya, Passenger Sales Managing Director, Japan Airlines.
