Italian authorities have agreed to prohibit flights from the UK to Italy after a new, more contagious type of coronavirus which was identified on British territory, according to The Independent. The decision was voiced by Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio who had declared that all flights from the UK to Italy would be suspended.
Previously, the Netherlands announced a ban on flights from the UK until January 1 partly owing to fear of bringing a new type of coronavirus to the continent, which is considered the highly contagious. It was later reported that Belgium will prohibit flights from the UK, starting from midnight Sunday at least for 24 hours.
The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated that British authorities adopted a decision to impose the most stringent restrictive measures on movement of London residents and almost the entire south-east of England. B.Johnson clarified that he largely made the decision on the lockdown, given the spread of a new variety of coronavirus COVID-19. According to the prime minister, the new type of virus is no more dangerous than the original COVID-19, but it is spreading faster.
