Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport (IATA code: FLL) is providing a biometric boarding on all international flights in partnership with Amadeus. The new procedure offers a contactless boarding process for all international travelers with biometric departure confirmation from the country. The procedure is conducted in compliance with the requirements of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the news agency ATO writes.
Due to built-in facial recognition technology, passengers departing from Fort Lauderdale might pass the boarding area contactlessly by scanning their faces instead of boarding pass. According to the CBP requirements, a passenger is verified against his booking, as well as an automatic check-in on the Departure Control System (DCS) of the airline in addition to a biometric passenger check-in.
Importantly, this service complies with the legal regulations related to personal information, since no personal biometric data is stored on the airport and other airlines systems. Upon successful passenger verification, an unique ID is generated and the airline is warned that a passenger is boarding the aircraft and occupies a specified seat. Amadeus' cloud-based biometric boarding solution is now available to all international airlines at FLL airport and provides a contactless travel solution.
