Under the experiment, Italian authorities are planning to launch flights from Rome to several US cities, Interfax writes. Passengers on these flights are not required to go through mandatory quarantine.
Reportedly, an agreement on the experimental opening of air traffic was signed between Fiumicino Airport, Alitalia and Delta Air Lines. Flights are scheduled in December. Thus, passengers arriving in Rome from the John F. Kennedy airport (New York), Newark (New Jersey) and Atlanta (Georgia) may not be quarantined if they do two PCR tests, the first 48 hours prior to departure and the other one upon arrival in Rome.
Fiumicino airport proposes to do a quick test, the result of which will be ready in half an hour. “Air corridor” will be evaluated by experts, showing its an effectively conformity in 2021. Later, it is scheduled to launch similar flights from Rome to Munich and Frankfurt.
