The International Air Transport Association (IATA) intends to create an IATA Travel Pass, which is expected to facilitate the border opening. IATA is developing such a policy jointly with International Airlines Group, which combines British airlines and Iberia. Trials passes are scheduled for the end of this year, a fully-fledged launch for the first quarter of 2021, Interfax writes.
"States are beginning to use testing as a tool for limiting the spread of COVID-19 by opening their borders to travelers without quarantine measures. The IATA Travel Pass would manage and verify the necessary information on testing or vaccine between states, airlines, laboratories and travelers," as message says.
“Today, borders are locked in two locks. Testing is the first key to enable international travel to proceed without quarantine measures. The second key is the global informational infrastructure needed for securely management, exchange and test data verification related to traveler's ID as required by the border control. This function will be provided by the IATA Travel Pass, "said Alexandre de Juniac, IATA CEO.
