Norwegian low-cost carrier Norwegian Air Shuttle continues to drastically cut their fleet. Since the Norwegian government decided not to support financially the airline and regarding the ever-extending travel restrictions, Norwegian Air Shuttle has announced to keep only six aircrafts from existing 140-aircrafts fleet.
The airline said that the Norwegian government's decision and existing travel restrictions leave no choice but to cut its fleet and lay off 1,600 employees. The maximum passenger company's turnover has been decreased by 94%, passenger turnover - by 96%.
Norwegian Air Shuttle has already concerned about a "very uncertain future" following a government decision. "Any changes that may be occurring amid the spread of the coronavirus, including additional or extended travel restrictions, anything that negatively has affect on restoring market will have a direct impact on the company's plans," added Norwegian Air Shuttle.
