The IATA urges countries to open their borders. The industry is under threat, almost five million people might lose their jobs. Relevant organizations encourage the state authorities to consider the renewal of flights as soon as possible for several reasons.
The most important reason is the decreased demand for air operations. According to IATA, flights in August this year were 75% less than previous year. For those reasons, carriers are forced to decrease their staff. There are not thousands, almost millions of employees are under reduction. Associations believe that cross-bordering trips are needed to be resumed without introducing a regulation when passenger arriving in a particular country is sent to mandatory quarantine. Instead, experts encourage to create a convenient testing system whereby passengers can be tested for coronavirus before departure.
